6/15/2022

The July Event will be to help with VBS.  It will be held Sunday, July 10 to Wednesday, July 13 in the evening.  A theme has been chosen and the group discussed lesson ideas, decorations, advertising, volunteers and supplies needed.

Fifteen ladies have signed up to go to Shipshewana. Several have volunteered to take meals to the new moms in the church.

Twelve ladies met for the 6th week of the Jude Bible Study.  The study will conclude next week.  There are plans to do another study in the fall.

Discussed upcoming events. LMC is hoping to have Vacation Bible School this year and the group will dedicate their July event to helping with the program. The August Event will be planned during (and at) Brown City Camp.

Also discussed a card shower for two families with new babies in the church.

Jude Bible Study Week 5

5/31/2022

Twelve ladies attended Week 5,  They reviewed previous lessons and watched the next video in the series which covered verses 20-23.  Jackie Hill Perry writes, "In the beginning of Jude's letter, he told his recipients he wanted them to contend for the faith, but he didn't detail how until now. But before he provided them instructions for contending, he exhorted them to grow in their character - because contending for the faith is as much about living and growing in the faith as it is defending it. Being grounded in the Scriptures and growing in faith toward God keeps the feet of any Christian from shifting when the wind from sinful living and false teaching blows her away."

Jude Bible Study Week 4

5/24/2022

The group reviewed Session 3 which covered verses 5-11. Some of the verses were difficult to understand, but as Jackie Hill Perry states, "It will take some wrestling, searching, reading and prayer, but laboring in God's Word will always bear more fruit than skimming through God's Word."

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 31 at 6:30 p.m. due to the Memorial Day holiday.

Jude Bible Study Week 3 & Event Updates

5/16/2022

The ladies completed Week 3 of their Jude Bible Study. An excerpt from the book by Jackie Hill Perry: "Here's Jude speaking to a group of Christians who lived in a pluralistic society, a relativistic culture that followed after many gods and many truths and many fashions and fads and saying, 'Contend for the truth.' And lo, and behold, here we are 2,000 years later in a culture that's very relativistic and pluralistic following after many fads and many fashions and many gods. And Jude is saying to us again, 'Care about the truth. Cling to the truth. Believe the truth. Be savvy enough about the truth that you can tell a false teacher from a faithful prophet. Stick close to the Bible. Stick close to God's word. Stick close to Jesus Christ.' He's saying all those things to us. And that word is just as fresh today as when he spoke it. ~Ligon Duncan (from Defending the Faith.)

The group discussed the Shipshewana Trip on June 21-22. There will be a short meeting after church on Sunday, May 22 to provide more information. If interested in attending, please let Marlene know ASAP.

The July Event is still being finalized and the August Event will be at Brown City Camp.

Jude Bible Study Week 2 & Upcoming Events Update

5/9/2022

Fourteen ladies attended the second week of the Jude Bible Study.  The ladies introduced themselves and told how they came to LMC.  Angela then reviewed the upcoming events. The Greenhouse Tour will be held Wednesday, May 11. Participants should meet at the church at 10:00 a.m. for the itinerary and maps. The June Event, a trip to Shipshewana, is scheduled for June 21-22. Marlene presented the room information,  then gave a few ideas as to possible activities including an Amish home-cooked dinner, a buggy tour, a play and of course shopping! If interested in attending, contact Marlene asap, so rooms can be reserved.

The group then reviewed the first week's study and watched Week 2's video.  A key point from the video is we must contend for the Truth. Our foundation must be the Word of God.

Week 3 of the Jude Bible Study will be held on Monday, May 16.

Jude Bible Study Week 1 & Events Update

5/2/2022

The Women's Ministry Bible study on the Book of Jude is underway!  The group opened with prayer then read the Book of Jude. After a brief discussion of the book, they watched the first video in the series by Jackie Hill Perry.  The focus of Week 1 was Jude verses 1-2:  "Jude a servant of Jesus Christ and brother of James, to those who are called, beloved in God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ:  May mercy, peace and love be multiplied to you."  It's amazing how much is packed in those two short verses! The ladies have four personal studies over verses 1-2 before the next meeting on Monday, May 9.

The June event, a trip to Shipshewana is in process.  Reservations are being made for mid-June.  Watch for more information.
