Eleven ladies attended the last meeting of the Jude Bible Study. All gained insight about how we need to contend for the faith.
The July Event will be to help with VBS. It will be held Sunday, July 10 to Wednesday, July 13 in the evening. A theme has been chosen and the group discussed lesson ideas, decorations, advertising, volunteers and supplies needed. Fifteen ladies have signed up to go to Shipshewana. Several have volunteered to take meals to the new moms in the church.
The ladies completed Week 3 of their Jude Bible Study. An excerpt from the book by Jackie Hill Perry: "Here's Jude speaking to a group of Christians who lived in a pluralistic society, a relativistic culture that followed after many gods and many truths and many fashions and fads and saying, 'Contend for the truth.' And lo, and behold, here we are 2,000 years later in a culture that's very relativistic and pluralistic following after many fads and many fashions and many gods. And Jude is saying to us again, 'Care about the truth. Cling to the truth. Believe the truth. Be savvy enough about the truth that you can tell a false teacher from a faithful prophet. Stick close to the Bible. Stick close to God's word. Stick close to Jesus Christ.' He's saying all those things to us. And that word is just as fresh today as when he spoke it. ~Ligon Duncan (from Defending the Faith.)
The group discussed the Shipshewana Trip on June 21-22. There will be a short meeting after church on Sunday, May 22 to provide more information. If interested in attending, please let Marlene know ASAP. The July Event is still being finalized and the August Event will be at Brown City Camp. Fourteen ladies attended the second week of the Jude Bible Study. The ladies introduced themselves and told how they came to LMC. Angela then reviewed the upcoming events. The Greenhouse Tour will be held Wednesday, May 11. Participants should meet at the church at 10:00 a.m. for the itinerary and maps. The June Event, a trip to Shipshewana, is scheduled for June 21-22. Marlene presented the room information, then gave a few ideas as to possible activities including an Amish home-cooked dinner, a buggy tour, a play and of course shopping! If interested in attending, contact Marlene asap, so rooms can be reserved.
The group then reviewed the first week's study and watched Week 2's video. A key point from the video is we must contend for the Truth. Our foundation must be the Word of God. Week 3 of the Jude Bible Study will be held on Monday, May 16.
Eighteen women attended the monthly meeting held at Sherri's home. The women shared snacks at the beginning of the meeting.
Angela & Marlene presented the upcoming schedule of events (all dates to be announced): April ~ Seven-week Bible Study of Jude. $15 cost for book. Scholarships available for those who cannot afford the cost. A sign-up sheet will be placed at the back of the church. Held in the Fellowship Hall. May ~ A local greenhouse tour and scavenger hunt. June ~ An overnight trip to Shipshewana to visit the flea market (held Tuesday/Wednesday) during the day and a play in the evening. A Walking Club and a Fall Bible Study are also in the works. Any suggestions for additional events are welcome. Robin can no longer head the Meal Ministry so the group is seeking a volunteer to take her place. The group was asked and then answered a couple of "get to know each other" questions, followed by a scripture passage relating to the question. Women shared how God had answered a specific prayer in their lives and two shared their testimony. It was an amazing night of fellowship and sharing! Thank you so much to Sherri for opening her home to the group! |
